Ghanaian Chef Nhyraba Zulaiha Pushes Through Exhaustion in Bid to Break Guinness World Record

Ghanaian chef Nhyraba Zulaiha is pressing on with her attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, despite showing visible signs of exhaustion four days into the challenge.

Zulaiha, who began the cookathon at the Madina Zongo Astro Turf on June 1, 2026, has so far cooked for more than 192 hours as she works toward completing approximately eight consecutive days in the kitchen.

A video circulating on social media shows the chef seated in a swivel chair while continuing to cook, as an assistant places a wet towel over her head to help cool her down. The footage has drawn concern and support from many Ghanaians online, with several praising her determination and resilience.

The cookathon has attracted supporters, family members and well-wishers to the venue, where many have been rallying behind her since the start of the attempt.

Meals prepared during the challenge have also been shared with people at the grounds, while some portions have reportedly been delivered to schoolchildren in the Madina community.

If successful, Chef Nhyraba Zulaiha will join the growing list of Ghanaians who have attempted or achieved Guinness World Record feats in recent years. Her effort is also expected to draw wider attention to Ghana’s culinary culture and the country’s growing presence on the global record-setting stage.
