Abu Trica Opens Up on Mental Health Struggles After NACC Detention
Abu Trica opens up about the emotional toll of his NACC detention, revealing isolation, fear for his child, and ongoing mental health struggles.

Ghanaian socialite Abu Trica has spoken publicly about the emotional and psychological toll of his detention by the Narcotics Control Commission, describing the experience as one of the darkest periods of his life.
Speaking in an interview with Captain Smart on Onua TV, Abu Trica said the ordeal left him deeply distressed and continues to affect him months after his release.
According to him, memories of the detention still haunt him and often leave him overwhelmed with sadness.
āI feel bad. Sometimes I will just be talking to myself, cry, and even feel like I am going mad,ā he said during the interview.
Abu Trica revealed that he spent an entire month in a single room while in custody. He said the isolation was extremely difficult to cope with and had a lasting effect on his mental well-being.
He also said one of his biggest worries during the period was his four-year-old child. According to him, thoughts about his child constantly occupied his mind while he remained locked up and unable to communicate freely with loved ones.
Abu Trica maintained his innocence over the allegations that led to his detention. He insisted that he has never been involved in drug-related activities and claimed the NACC officials were aware of this after conducting background checks.
He said authorities carried out checks and received information confirming he had no history of involvement in narcotics-related offences, yet he was still detained.
Despite his release, Abu Trica said the emotional scars remain, adding that he continues to struggle with the memories of the month-long detention and its impact on his mental health.
